Platts Bros
Only one in the case
The Platts name runs through the roots of American cutlery. The Platts family was tied to the founding of Case, Western, and Ka-Bar, and this knife comes straight from the source: the tang is stamped "PLATTS BROS / ANDOVER / N.Y.," marking it as an original from the brothers' Andover, New York works. Genuine Platts Bros. knives are scarce, and a full-size folding hunter is one of the best patterns to find. It's a true working knife at 5 3/8" closed and 9 1/2" open, built for field dressing, camp work, and anything a big folder is made to handle. It wears rich dark hardwood handles with a long, scalloped nickel silver bar shield, a front bolster, and a matching cap bolster with a lanyard hole. The single large clip blade opens by a long pull and shows the honest patina of a knife with real age on it, with a clean, legible tang stamp. A centerpiece for any traditional collection and a piece of American cutlery history you can hold in your hand. Pre-owned, no box.
