Most of the rare and custom knives in our case came from people like you: a collector making room, an estate, someone who inherited a drawer of pocket knives and wants them to go to people who will appreciate them. We have bought and sold Pat Crawford and Jason Clark customs, 1940s Case XX folding hunters, Remington bullet knives, early Microtechs and more, and we price them from what comparable pieces have actually sold for.
How it works
- Tell us what you have, below or at the counter. Photos of both sides and the tang stamp are enough to start.
- We reply within a business day with a range and a recommendation: buy outright, or consign.
- Outright, we pay you that day. Consignment, we photograph and list the piece, and you receive the agreed share when it sells.
Automatics and other restricted knives are fine to bring in: Texas allows them, and we sell them in the store and ship where the law permits.
Questions
- What kinds of knives do you buy?
- Custom and hand-made knives, vintage and antique pocket knives (Case XX, Remington, Cattaraugus, Schrade, Sheffield makers), discontinued production from Microtech, Benchmade, Spyderco, Cold Steel and others, and military or trade blades with a story. Modern mass-market knives in used condition are harder to place; ask anyway.
- Buy outright or consign: which is better for me?
- Outright is faster: we agree a price and pay you that day. Consignment usually brings more, because the knife is priced at full retail and you receive the agreed share when it sells. We will tell you which we recommend for each piece.
- What is your consignment rate?
- It depends on the piece and the price; it is agreed in writing before anything is listed, and there is no fee if the knife does not sell. Ask at the counter or in your enquiry.
- Do I need to bring the knives in?
- No. Photos of both sides, the tang stamp or maker's mark, and anything that came with the knife are enough for a first quote. For a final price we need to see the piece, in the store or shipped to us insured.
- Can you tell me what my knife collection is worth?
- Yes. Bring it in or send photos and we will give you an honest range based on what comparable pieces have sold for. There is no charge for an opinion.
- Do you buy whole estates?
- Yes. Collections of a few pieces to several hundred. For large estates we come to you in the Austin area.
