OTF Knives at Austin Blade Co.
Out-the-front automatics from a first CobraTec to a serialized Microtech.
An OTF fires the blade straight out of the handle and pulls it back on the same switch. Microtech set the standard; Benchmade's Infidel is the other benchmark; CobraTec makes the one most people start with and the one we stock the most of. All are legal to buy and carry in Texas.
Shipping follows state law: a handful of states ban automatics and a few cap blade length, and checkout checks the address before you pay.
Questions we get at the counter
- What is the difference between an OTF and a regular automatic?
- A regular (side-opening) automatic swings the blade out on a pivot like a folder. An OTF slides it straight out the front. OTFs are flatter and faster; side-openers are simpler and stronger at the lock.
- Can you ship an OTF knife to my state?
- To most states. Our state-by-state guide lists where we cannot, and checkout refuses an address the law does not allow.
